My most popular talk: The Road to Bletchley Park incorporates the story of the women and men who worked in British codebreaking from 1914 to 1946.  It will introduce you to the role of codebreaking from 1914 through the First World War, during the interwar period, and through the Second World War at Bletchley Park.

An introduction to British code breaking during The Great War.  You will hear about the origins of Room 40 (Naval Intelligence) and MI1(b) (Military Intelligence) and their role in the War.  You will also be able to ‘meet’ some of the men and women who worked in the two organisations and the roles they played during WWI.

An introduction to British codebreaking during the Second World War.  You will learn about why Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire was chosen and how people were recruited to the organisation.  You will be able to ‘meet’ some of the men and women who worked at Bletchley Park and learn about the roles they played in the Second World War.

An introduction to the women who worked at Bletchley Park, the roles they played during the Second World War.  You will hear about the work they did, and be able ‘meet’ some of the men and women who worked at Bletchley Park and learn about the roles they played.

An introduction to the work of the Special Operations Executive who ‘Set Europe Ablaze’ during the Second World War supporting the French Resistance in their fight to eliminate the Nazi threat.

SOE: The Women of F-Section and the Tempsford Connection

An introduction to the work of the Special Operations Executive who ‘Set Europe Ablaze’ during the Second World War supporting the French Resistance in their fight to eliminate the Nazi threat.  The airfield at RAF Tempsford in Bedfordshire was used to fly some of the brave women from the F-Section behind enemy lines in France.

The Thrings: A Dunstable Family

An introduction to the Thring’s, Lionel who was the first Headmaster of Dunstable Grammar School, and his family. His elder two children both joined the War effort; his eldest daughter as one of the first WWI code breakers, and his trail blazing youngest daughter who was the first full-time guide at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
